The Woman Behind Lazy.

I’m Karley Jo.
I usually look unapproachable until I open my mouth. Then it’s loud laughs, blunt honesty, sarcasm, and absolutely no ability to stay quiet. I’m weird. You’re probably weird too. I’ll still out-weird you every time. I also have a bad habit of cracking jokes at the worst possible moments, but honestly? It keeps life interesting.
Being in front of the camera has never really been my thing, which is probably obvious by now. I’m awkward, wildly unserious, and much more comfortable standing behind the camera than in front of it. What you see is what you get around here. No watered down personality. No pretending to be somebody I’m not just because I own a camera.
I’m married to a pipeline/rig welder who keeps me grounded through all the chaos and reminds me daily to keep pushing this thing bigger. Together we’re raising one feral little boy who keeps our lives loud, messy, exhausting, and somehow still the best thing ever all at once. Most days, when I’m not editing or shooting, I’m usually hanging out with my family, listening to music way too loud, chasing sunsets, working on our camper, riding dirt bikes with my son, getting way too emotionally attached to skies God blesses us with, or traveling wherever Max’s job takes us next. Our life moves around a lot, but honestly I’ve learned to love that. There’s something about seeing new places, meeting different people, and constantly changing scenery that keeps me inspired.
Lazy J started as something small. Just me wanting to create something that actually felt honest. Somewhere along the way, it became so much more than that. Photography gave me a creative outlet during seasons of life where I felt stuck, overwhelmed, or like I had lost pieces of myself in motherhood, traveling, and everyday things. Picking up a camera and teaching myself the field gave me something that was fully mine again. Now it’s become a way for me to freeze little pieces of life that normally pass by too fast. The loud laughs. The chaos. The way somebody looks at the people they love when they don’t realize anyone’s paying attention.
I know I’m not for everyone, and truthfully, I’m okay with that. What matters to me is creating a space where people feel comfortable enough to show up exactly as they are. Loud, quiet, weird, awkward, chaotic, stubborn, soft-hearted, sarcastic. Whatever version of yourself you are, bring that one to me.
God made us exactly the way He intended to, and I think there’s something beautiful about letting people be fully themselves without trying to make them fit into some proper little box.
So if you’re new, pull up a seat, hunny. I’m real glad you’re here.
